A DAY OF WATERWAYS
Many people have been asking about plans for the final day so without further ado ...!
Sunday 25 June is Stage 4 of Cycle for Life 2017. Whether you are joining us for the full 200km, or you simply want to take part for the final 'hurrah' - it's going to be a fun day's cycling with (of course) plenty of chances to stop, refresh and revive! Our route for this day has been specifically planned to avoid some bumpy sections of the Canal path, so if you want to take part on a road bike, you definitely could.
Once we leave Valras-Plage in the morning we hop aboard the mini passenger ferry to cross the River Orb and make our way back towards the Canal du Midi and Agde, stopping for a drink on the way at the Brasserie at the Port just outside Portiragnes.
We cycle along the River Hérault before arriving in Agde where a superb picnic awaits us in the parkland of Chateau Laurens. This is a delightful shady area and the lunch is on offer for all cyclists, CSF friends, supporters, drivers and volunteers. After a good rest-and-recharge in Agde we take some minor unmarked roads to join the cycle path that takes us alongside the Etang de Thau to Marseillan Plage. The path is superbly signposted and there are plenty of watering holes in case you need to stop for a 'pick-me-up' (or two) to cycle the final stretch!
The cycle path follows the sand dunes and the beach all the way to Sète. The river views and coastal scenery is a real contrast to our cycle views from Day 1.
Here in Sète the lovely team from Renestance will be waiting with celebration drinks and cake. We estimate arriving at approximately 4.30/5.00pm, so if you are not cycling but would like to join the party, please come along and share the moment. You'll find us at the Musée de la Mer which overlooks the port.
It will be a terrific day to end a fabulous event - looking forward to seeing you there!
